When is the best time to schedule my family portrait session?
The best time to schedule your session is 4-6 weeks ahead! My weekend calendar fills up quickly and I only take on a limited amount of family each month. Let’s make sure that we have your session on the calendar. You can schedule your appointment right HERE

Can I incorporate grandparents with my family?
Absolutely! Photographing your family with grandparents is an incredible experience for everyone involved.

How much do family sessions cost?
To view full pricing click HERE. Photography Packages for family Starts from $375

How long will my family photography session take?
Depends on the package you choose. The atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable and the pace of our session will be determined by the kids.

Where do the family sessions take place?
Your session will take place at a location of your choosing. We provide suggestions and examples of over a dozen locations across the Houston-Metro and surrounding areas. Just bring yourself and your family and rest assured that we are prepared to have fun getting your kids to break out their genuine smiles.

What should we wear for family pictures?
I want you to feel comfortable so I suggest wearing clothes that you can move freely in. I also recommend soft toned, solid colors, avoiding loud prints and patterns so that we can keep the focus on everyone's faces. I will send out more detailed instructions with what to wear once you book your session.

When do I pay my session fee?
Your session fee is due at the time of your appointment.

Things you need to know before doing a kids/babies photoshoot:

  • It’s essential when photographing babies and young children that mum or dad is on hand. This will keep the kids feeling comfortable. I always ask mum or dad to stand behind me at the camera’s level and attract their child’s attention with silly faces, Making Obnoxious Animal Noises, dancing, games (try to find out what games makes him laugh the most)  so that they’re looking in the camera direction and smile.

  • Clean, clean, clean, clean nails, clean hair, wipe away eye boogers, clean feet, wipe snotty noses, fresh-scrub teeth. The cleaner the kid, the better their photos will turn out.

  • If your child is still in diapers or pull-ups, tuck’em in or wear bloomers.

  • It is perfectly okay to bring bribes to a photo shoot, given a stage and being the center of attention, it’s like our kids know exactly when to act their worst. Some smarties or other tiny candy that won’t stain teeth can help a short photo shoot go by smoothly.

  • Avoid colorful drinks or lollipops within 24 hours of your shoot, don’t let them eat or drink anything that will stain their face, teeth or mouths.

  • Bring toys! If possible, please bring your kid's favorite toys to play with during the shoot. It is all about distracting the toddler from running away. (Like teddy bears, some nice cars and fire trucks, or some girly tea cups with pretend cupcakes, etc...) Props that I believe do not look as nice in photographs are licensed toys from movies (because they go out of style quickly)

  • Be patient! Don’t try to make them do something they don’t want to. If a difficult situation occurs, first we try to take a break and leave the shooting area, and we have a mummy cuddle and/or a snack. After a few minutes we tried again.

  • Comfortable clothing!  Consider the temperature and the comfort of clothes for the session.  Clothes that are too tight can be hard to move in and we all know how much toddlers like to move.  If your toddler hates shoes and it is summer time, let him be shoeless for some of the session.

  • Fill that belly!  A hungry toddler is a cranky toddler.  Be sure that your little one has had a meal recently and come to the session with a snack and water cup handy.

  • (For older kids) don’t ask for a smile – surprise him into one. If we request a smile from an obliging preschooler, we’ll probably end up with a cheesy smile or a grumpy look. There are some other ways to get a great, natural looking smile from your toddler or preschooler.

  • One way is to ask him to close his eyes and then after a minute make a loud sound like a sneeze or a bark. He’ll be startled at first, but will probably laugh for a few minutes and maybe even smile at us afterward.

  • Asking silly questions: “does your Daddy wear diapers?” or “is there an elephant on my head?” or “how old are you? About 100?

  • ask them to tell me a joke (kids always laugh at their own jokes)

  • Compliment Them! Kids are no different from adults – they love compliments. Who doesn’t love to be told they are amazing? This makes them feel more comfortable, self confident and relaxed.

  • Sing Songs, Kids love music.

  • Keep it fun.  We can try to photograph her playing "Ring around the Rosy," blowing bubbles, reading a book with a parent, or being tickled.  The beauty of having portraits done is to remember the love and relationship in a family.

General Advice

  • Hair accessories – If you’re shooting outdoors, be ready to put your hair up and make it look nice in case of a windy day. Bring bobby pins, hair clips, headbands or any other favorite accessories.

  • Nails – A fresh coat of nail polish will make a world of difference in your photo shoot.

  • Undergarments – Bra straps won’t do anything to help your outfit look its best. Be sure you bring a set of bras and strap-adjusting accessories to work with any outfit you want to shoot in to keep those straps well-hidden.

  • Ironing – If you iron, iron the night before and then hang the clothes for your shoot. If you’re wearing something that wrinkles easily, don’t wear it in the car on the way to the shoot – just change at the location.

  • For sunny days, bring a towel to remove sweat from faces

  • Insecure about your upper arms? You may want to wear something that covers your upper-arms. Long- or 3/4-sleeve tops are very flattering.
